| Description: | In today’s era of hyper-digital connectivity, personal touches when inviting guests is a rarity. In such a world, generating interest in hand-knotted rugs is a challenge–one that we faced when working with a third-generation rug company, Tissage Rugs x Obeetee’s first-ever India launch. Knowing the 4-5 month effort that goes into making a rug, we decided to ensure that every recipient of the invite gets a glimpse of this craft–piquing their interest enough to attend. The result was a handmade box set that took recipients on a tactile journey of rug making, along with a few ritualistic elements of the mythical world. Given how invites are discarded today, this box was handcrafted to double as a storage item or a coffee table display. The idea behind choosing a folio-style showcase for the collection was a practical one. While the singular cards can be examined on their own, the folio can be easily carried separately by designers for meetings. In the end, the handmade box set led to a high turnout at the launch event, 30+ social mentions of the invite and an overall appreciation for the story behind the art of rug making. |
