| Yes: | An 18 piece DIY Xmas tree, along with a message/ instructions packed in a Kraft pillow box. |
| Description: | At our studio, sustainable design is critical, and our intent was to develop greener, cleaner printing practices. We started by exploring organic dyes from our textile heritage, to see their viability on paper. Through r&d we understood the behaviour of the dyes in usage; the nature of the deposits on paper vis-à-vis ease of application, colour saturation and colour fastness. Through research and experimentation, we identified the best practices for these colorants, resulting in smooth application, optimum colour depth, fastness for longevity, and resilience on paper. Now we needed to share our results with designers and design buyers, promoting organic colorants as a viable green option for small-run print projects. With Xmas nearing, we decided to create an organic, compostable, and reusable tree. A sustainable gift for the season of excesses! Our tree - a DIY puzzle with meaningful messages printed on each piece, to be read whilst assembling, encouraged mindfulness, and a slower, more intentional lifestyle. The medium was the message. The response was overwhelmingly positive with inquiries from the design community and clients about our processes; along with early adopters and collaborations for limited edition stationery and gifting. Here’s to more trees, greater innovation and greener futures. |
