Description: Cricket may have been born in England, but it found its heartbeat in India.
Here, it isn’t just a game — it’s a religion. And nowhere is that devotion louder and prouder than in the city of Mumbai.

In Mumbai, cricket spills out of every gully and maidan. And the love for the game is evident as Mumbaikar have invented their own lingo to talk about the game. From 'Bhingri' (a spinning wicket) to 'Kavla Udavla' (when a batsman swings and misses entirely), and 'Aada Tircha' shot (an unorthodox shot) — the slang is as colourful as the city itself.

To celebrate this homegrown love affair, Mumbai Indians decided to turn this cricketing lingo into art. We choose unapologetically bold, matchbox art style to bring alive the idea. Bright, brash, retro-cool, and deeply local, it was the perfect fit.

This vibrant series of illustrations became a tribute to Mumbai’s cricketing dialect. Designed to be shared and worn, the artwork came alive on T-shirts sold at college fest pop-ups — turning local slang into a proud, wearable celebration.
